Thailand & Cambodia | Travel

South East Asia is a place of adventure, hardship and intrigue.  As you step off the plane you are welcomed by sticky heat and smell, large welcoming smiles and a culture as diverse as the landscape.  Our one month stop in South East Asia began in Bangkok with the sweltering heat and humidity adding to the culture shock. We spent the rest of our time in the islands of Koh Tao and Koh Phangan before heading north to Cambodia. Staying in Phnom Phen and Siem Reap, it was the people and smiles of Cambodia that were the most touching.  With more than 50% of the population of under 25 years old, due to a long war campaign at the hand of Pol Pot, the ability of the human spirit to remain strong amidst huge loss and tragedy continues to amaze me.

In June 2011 we left our home country of New Zealand to travel the world, with little or no plan.  We said farewell to family and friends and boarded our plane.  Our travels so far have taken us from the bottom of the world to South East Asia, Europe and soon England, Turkey, East Africa and Australia.
